TBR 700 product description
Using state of the art digital technology the receiver is compatible with standard code sets and operates at 69 kHz. Used in combination with Thelma Biotel transmitters the receiver will be able to support new and user adaptable code sets to fit your special needs. With a software update, it also supports full multi-frequency reception in the 63-77 kHz band.
Rugged casing
The receiver is very robust and can be used in lakes, rivers, fjords or in the ocean down to 500 meters depth. Precision milled Delrin© is used in the pressure hull and battery compartment to ensure maximum ruggedness. In order provide the means for a secure attachment during deployment; we have put in two deep grooves and a hole through the bottom. All means for fastening is placed in the bottom half of the receiver so batteries can be replaced while the unit is still attached to its fixture. The hull is fitted with a smart bottom screw making it easy and effortless to open and close, with a standard screwdriver or even a coin.
Less code collisions and signal strength logging
Equipped with a powerful microprocessor the new receiver makes use of advanced digital signal processing in order to obtain maximum reception and flexibility. By monitoring background noise levels, it will dynamically adjust threshold levels to optimize performance under difficult conditions. Multichannel reception ensures that weak signals do not interfere with stronger signals, enabling more than one transmitter to be logged at the same time, greatly reducing the problem with code collisions. The receiver is logging not only fish ID and possible sensor value, but also the received signal strength (range estimator). Background noise, as well as water temperature, is logged at chosen intervals and enables the user to keep track of the receiver’s working conditions during the entire deployment.
Standardized computer interface and super LED
Data is transferred to a computer using wireless Bluetooth interface or a standard USB cable. Interaction with the receiver is intuitive and easy through our own computer software (ComPort) and your computer’s on-board Bluetooth/USB interface. ComPort supports fast download of data, export to .csv, intuitive filtering and graphical display of data. Direct interface with the receiver is also user friendly with a three-color diode for indication of status (Blue=Bluetooth, Green=listening mode, Red=error). Powered by one Lithium double D-cell battery this receiver supports continuous deployment of 8-9 months.
Firmware updates and user specified firmware
General updates and tailor-made receiver firmware is easily flashed to the unit by the user, through our ComPort PC software. The standard interface and easy user-operated firmware updates, enables a strong potential for further developed with more advanced acoustic protocols for higher data transfer capabilities. Such features are of special value in combination with Thelma Biotel’s sensor transmitters, with or without built-in statistical processing. For users wanting the ability of real time data access and external power supply, this is available through an optional cable connector module, see the TBR-700-RT for details.
